Before reading the below note that Sticky Notes 3.1.4 is available for Windows 10 (OS Build 17763.253) and is identical to below. Many people have reported that they have not yet received the updated version so if you have not already seen the updated version then continue ready below.
Since downloading Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18317 (19H1) I have been enjoying some of the new update features that have gotten a face lift and boost in functionality one of which is Sticky Notes 3.5.
Upon launching the application you have the choice of signing in using your Microsoft Account or else you can just use the application normally. The advantages of signing in will mean you can synchronize your Notes with other devices.
This is a pretty useful feature for me as I tend to log onto a lot of devices in my work place and I am a sucker for taking tones regarding PC names and other technical information.
After choosing to Log on or not you are presented with a new interface which allows your Sticky Notes to organized by the one that has most recently been modified. Here you can access the Sticky Notes settings using the Cog Wheel in the top right and you can create new Sticky Notes using the plus icon at the top left.
Above is an example of how the new interface organizes your notes by the most recently modified. This makes it easy to find the note that you need. Which after testing I find to be very useful and easy to use.
When you press New Note icon at the top left of the organizer it will create a blank note which allows you to choose a background color like previous versions but what is new and that I love is the fact that you can now format the text within the note. You now have the option to make text Bold, Italic and you can even underline, strike-through and even create a list.
Choosing a color for your note has changed from the previous circular selections. (OS Build 17763 had 6 color selections, OS Build 18317 now has 7).
In the settings You have the option to Sign in, Enable Insights and also the option to confirm Note deletion. You can also choose a theme color Dark, Light and also a theme which matches your current Windows theme.
If you are like me and tend to create a lot of Sticky Notes you now have the option to search using keywords that when found will be highlighted in yellow.
Under Help & Feedback you can access Keyboard Shortcuts which are pretty helpful. Above you’ll find a selection of some the available keyboard shortcuts.
Above is what the Dark theme looks like. This can be ideal for those who do not like bright displays or have visual impairments. Overall I found that Sticky Notes 3.5 will be one feature of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18317 (19H1) that I look forward to seeing in the next feature update.
